How to read
How to Read Daily IL's Injury Information
Checking who will miss a game usually means jumping between team sites, league reports and news articles. Daily IL gathers the injury and absence news for both teams in every game of the day on one screen. This guide explains what the numbers and labels mean, where the information comes from, when it changes, and what to keep in mind when you read it.
1. What to look at first in the game list
The home page and each date page group games by country and competition, in kick-off order. Each game row shows small counts under the two team names.
- Out N: players confirmed to miss this game. This includes Out, Injured List (IL) and Suspended.
- Doubtful N: players whose availability is not settled yet. This includes Doubtful and Questionable.
- No injuries: the sources we checked reported no injuries or absences for that team.
- Injuries unknown: we could not find information for that team. This is not the same as “no injuries” — it means the information is missing, not that the team is healthy.
Use the sport tabs and country buttons at the top to narrow the list, and switch on “major games only” to keep just each country’s top league and the big international events.
2. The seven status labels
Leagues announce injuries in different ways. The NBA, NFL and NHL publish official injury reports; football (soccer) relies on press conferences and club statements. Daily IL maps all of them onto seven labels.
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Out | Confirmed to miss this game |
| Doubtful | Announced or reported as unlikely to play |
| Questionable | Availability not decided yet (for example, a game-time decision) |
| Probable | Dealing with an injury but expected to play |
| Injured list (IL) | On a league injured list (IL / IR) or removed from the active roster because of injury |
| Suspended | Unavailable because of a ban or card accumulation |
| Returned | Activated from the injured list or recently back |
For league-by-league details, see the status guide and Injury status terms explained.
3. What to check on a game page
Tap a game row to open its page. Each team’s absences are listed with name, position, status, injury or reason, and expected return.
- Injury / reason is a short summary of what the club or reliable media said, such as “hamstring strain” or “personal reasons”. When a club deliberately keeps it vague (“upper-body injury”), we keep that wording.
- Expected return is the timeline the club or media gave. It changes often during rehab, so treat it as an estimate, not a fixed date.
- Roster notes cover news that is not an injury but can still matter, such as announced starting pitchers, rest days or national-team call-ups.
- Sources and last update appear at the bottom of the page.
4. Where the information comes from and when it changes
Daily IL checks games twice a day — around 07:00 and 22:00 Korea time — covering every game that starts within the next 24 hours. We use official league reports, club announcements, press conferences and major media, and we do not publish rumours or forum posts.
Games that were already covered are checked again each time. If a new injury appears or a status changes, only that game is updated; otherwise it stays as it was. That means news released right before kick-off (a late scratch, the official line-up) may not be reflected yet. Always check the official club or league announcement close to game time.
Kick-off times are converted to your device’s time zone automatically, while dates are grouped by Korea time. European and American games can therefore appear one day apart from their local date.
5. Team and player pages, and “presumed returned”
Tap a team to see its current absences, status changes over the last 30 days and upcoming games. Tap a player to see when they were first listed and how their status changed.
A player is marked “presumed returned” only after they are missing from the team’s list two checks in a row. One missing check can simply mean that day’s sources didn’t mention them. “Presumed returned” may therefore differ from an official activation, and actual playing time should be confirmed in the game record.
6. Ways to use the site
- Favorites: sign in to save teams, leagues and players and see them in one place.
- Past games: use the date picker or “Past games” to look back at earlier injury lists.
- Guides: knowing the rules behind a status — for example the MLB injured list, the NBA injury report or football suspension rules — makes the labels easier to read correctly.
If you spot an error
Daily IL only publishes information it can confirm, but mistakes can happen when covering many leagues every day. If you find one, please let us know through the contact page. We correct confirmed errors, and our correction rules are published in the editorial policy.
Daily IL is an information site. Player status can change right before a game, so please check official club and league announcements before making important decisions.
